And now for something completely different: Poo-Pourri

Okay, this is definitely one of the strangest product reviews I've ever done here at the Crack. See, here's what happened:
I had an appointment with my fabulous hairstylist last week, and as we were chatting, she told me about this new product her brother had invented. The more she told me about it, the more I thought she was pulling my leg. By the end of our conversation, I knew I HAD to try this stuff in my own household (this is sounding like some sort of HORRIBLE testimonial for a pyramid scheme, I know, but I swear to you all this really happened) because it just sounded so weird. And I am all about the weird, as you know.
Poo-Pourri is a liquid that you shake and then spray directly onto the surface of the water in your toilet bowl. This forms a film on the surface of the water, and anything entering the water from above (if you know what I mean) gets encased in this film, thus trapping any associated odors. The product itself has an herbal-citrus scent very reminiscent of lemon balm. So the idea is, spray the water, do your business as usual, flush, and voila! No embarrassing bathroom odors!
I am here to tell you that as weird as this sounds, it REALLY WORKS. We've been testing it out here in the Badger household for about a week (I think my family is sick of me yelling "use the Poo-Pourri!" every time I hear the bathroom door shut), and I'm a total convert. In fact, after I told her about it I nearly had to throw down with my own mother to keep her from stealing my little travel-sized bottle. (Who can blame her? The packaging -- see above -- is adorable.)
I don't know exactly what's in this stuff, but the FAQ states that the product is a blend of all-natural essential oils and shouldn't cause any more harm to septic or sewer systems than a natural hair shampoo or conditioner would. The citrus scent is pretty darn strong, but it's very natural/herbal smelling (i.e., not what I'd call "perfumey") and SO much better than the alternative!
There aren't a lot of retail locations for this product just yet as far as I know, but the company has a website and you can order it directly from there. (I can't speak for the customer service, since I got this bottle directly from my lovely hairdresser rather than from the website.) Hopefully it'll be turning up soon at a retailer and/or home shopping channel near you, because who DOESN'T need this, seriously?

maybe I shouldn't have read this while I was eating is all I'm saying.
I just made some Poo Pourri after reading this. It's water in a spray bottle and also ylang ylang, grapefruit, and orange.
I broke down and ordered some, since my father will be staying with us most of the summer and also, my husband and 13 year old son have stinky poo. Customer service, or order speed was fantastic!! I ordered it, got my email confirmaion of my order and 2 days later it was in my mailbox. Works great, when the male folk of the house will break down and use it. ;) Thanks for recommending it. Plus the bottles come with their own little bling chain in silver with a big silver P. Cute!
What a neat idea!
How did they ever thing of that?
that product already exists. it's made by prelam and called 'just a drop'. of course, it smells pretty antiseptic.
lol! very interesting
Anonymous...... Ylang Ylang, Grapefruit and Orange. Can you give us amounts?
What makes it white and the oils seem to be emulsified. They are not separated by the water/liquid
??????
TIA
